Creativity: The Beginning As a student I have always been jam packed with core classes and IB courses, I was never able to take an elective that allowed me to spark my creativity. In all honesty I just never thought I was creative until this year. In this class I learn not only how to come up with idea to organize information, but how to master the skills within Publisher. I can now format brochures, newsletters, and even recreating someone else's piece of work. I will now never regret randomly being placed in this class because it has allowed me to grow into a more rounded student. I feel like design is something I can use to better my education as I leave for UNLV. It will not only help me think outside the box but it has helped me with time management. College is all self-paced to a degree. No teachers are spoon feeding you to get things done, YOU need to get the things you need to done. This class has taught me just that and I absolutely loved it. I loved finding myself struggling still because it showed me what I need to do next time to make sure I get my projects done efficiently. A class based off broad subjects and you must choose what to do has really challenged me. For instance, one of the projects I thought I was totally going to bomb became one of my best pieces of work: the menu. The rules were follow the rubric but create your own. I choked. I thought “how am I going to do this? I’m not that witty to think of something from a broad subject and do it?” But then again I did. I created a Beauty Bar and Salon Menu that blew me away. It may not be the best but I will always remember me doubting myself then finding that my end product was spectacular. A special thanks to an amazingly beautiful teacher on the inside and I out for teaching me how to be creative again. I wish I could have met you sooner during my high school career. ♡
